🎙️ Over 50 Years of Keeping the Blues Alive

At the heart of the show is John Mullen, a man who has lived and breathed the blues for over half a century.

John’s journey began in the 1970s as a founding member of the legendary Cadilac Hooker. Throughout his storied career, he has shared the stage with an absolute "who’s who" of blues royalty, including:

  • Sir John Lee Hooker

  • Buddy Guy & Junior Wells

  • The Siegel-Schwall Band

  • Roy Buchanan

  • Pinetop Perkins

  • Downchild Blues Band

  • ...and countless other legends.

⚡ The Tradition Continues

Three years ago, John teamed up to form The John Thomas Blues Band. Since then, they have become a definitive staple in the Windsor, Ontario blues scene, carrying the torch for a new generation of listeners.

Now, we’re bringing that Windsor soul directly to you. Tune in this weekend and let the music do the talking.

💻 The Intersection of Tradition and Technology

While the station honours the past, it embraces the future of music production. A unique highlight of our programming is the original music created by John Mullen and his brother, Marty (the station’s DJ and announcer).

Much of this original work was composed and produced in Mixcraft, a powerful Digital Audio Workstation. By blending old-school blues with modern tools, John and Marty showcase the incredible creative heights that can be reached using today’s computers and AI-assisted technology.

This isn't just a trip down memory lane; it’s a demonstration of how the blues continues to evolve in the digital age.

📅 Weekend Schedule Reminder

Don't forget to set your reminders!

  • Saturdays: 12 Noon & 6 PM

  • Sundays: 12 Noon & 6 PM

Join us for a mix of rare archives, historical education, and cutting-edge original blues.

📻 More Than Music: A Deep Dive into Blues History

The John Thomas Blues Band Radio isn’t just another station—it’s a digital archive dedicated to the preservation of the craft. We are proud to operate as a non-profit, educational platform with a mission to bridge the gap between the legends of the past and the fans of the future.

🔍 What You’ll Hear

Our programming is specially curated to feature rare and unpublished blues recordings spanning the last 60 years. These are the tracks you won't find on mainstream playlists—the raw, authentic sounds that shaped music history.

🎓 An Educational Journey

We believe that to love the blues is to understand its roots. Our station serves as a gateway for younger listeners to explore:

  • The Humble Beginnings: Tracing the genre from its earliest acoustic origins.

  • The Great Migration: Following the evolution of the electric blues sound.

  • Today’s Torchbearers: Connecting historical mastery to the artists keeping the flame alive today.

"The blues is the roots, the rest is the fruits." — Willie Dixon

By tuning in, you aren't just listening to a broadcast; you're supporting the preservation of a musical legacy. Join The John Thomas Blues Band every weekend to hear the stories and sounds that defined a century.
